2025.06.19 PRESS RELEASE
Full-Scale Launch of Microwave Oscillator Development – New R&D Lab Launched in Yokohama –
Microwave Chemical Co., Ltd.
Microwave Chemical Co., Ltd. (“MWCC”) announce the launch of a new research and development hub, the “Yokohama Lab,” located within the Leading Venture Plaza operated by the Yokohama Industrial Development Corporation (President: Eiji Kobayashi) in Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City. Operations at the Yokohama Lab will commence on July 1, 2025, serving as the core base for a newly started project to develop microwave oscillators.

■Background
MWCC leverages microwave technology—commonly used in household microwave ovens—to promote next-generation manufacturing and contribute to a decarbonized society through its “Microwave Solutions Business.” To realize its mid-term vision (announced on May 9, 2025), which focuses on transitioning strategic sectors such as metal smelting process and chemical recycling into full-scale implementation, we recognize the critical need for a stable supply of high-quality microwave oscillators.
Furthermore, the development of microwave oscillators optimized for heating applications will enable cost reductions and broader adoption of the technology.
■Project Overview
In 2024, we initiated efforts to develop its own microwave oscillators. To accelerate this initiative, we have hired an engineer with decades of experience in the field of microwave equipment and launched the Yokohama Lab. We will carry out the full cycle of oscillator development—from design and prototyping to validation—paving the way toward commercialization.
[Project Leader]
Shuichi Aizawa
Former Division Director and CTO at Nihon Koshuha Co., Ltd. Seconded to the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization from 1997 to 2008. An expert in high-power radio frequency devices. Joined Microwave Chemical in 2025.
Graduated from Nippon Engineering College, Department of Electronics, March 1986.
■Future Outlook
A prototype microwave oscillator is expected to be completed by the end of fiscal year 2026. Following this, the devices will be deployed at our laboratory, Osaka facility, and other ongoing projects. Once mass production systems are in place, external sales will also be expected.
Through this initiative, we aim to further our vision of establishing microwave-based processes as a global standard.
