Development of an Innovative Microwave Technology Usablein Open Spaces, Overturning Conventional Wisdom – Boxless Microwave Oven” Eliminating Size and Location Constraints –

Microwave Chemical Co., Ltd. (“MWCC”) has applied its proprietary microwave control expertise to develop a microwave technology that can be used in open spaces (hereinafter “this technology”), which has long been considered difficult to utilize, along with equipment utilizing this technology, and has filed a patent application.  This technology enables the application of microwaves in diverse environments, no longer limited to enclosed spaces (cavities) such as microwave ovens. Going forward, MWCC will promote collaboration with joint development partners interested in utilizing this technology to contribute to process innovation across a wide range of industries.

【Background】

Until now, the general perception has been that the use of microwaves is limited to enclosed spaces to prevent leakage of microwaves. Although methods for utilization in open spaces do actually exist, they are not widely recognized, and challenges have remained regarding the operability of the technologies and devices.

Therefore, MWCC has pursued the convenience of technologies and equipment that can be used in open spaces, successfully establishing a unique control technology and filing related patent applications.

【Development Details】

This technology radiates microwaves through a special line structure, forming a strong electric field only in the vicinity of the line. This makes it possible to confine microwave irradiation to a designated area and suppress uncontrolled leakage of microwaves, even in an open space. MWCC has currently produced a handheld microwave irradiation device utilizing this technology and is employing it in demonstration tests.
