To accelerate the implementation of chemical recycling, we have established various R&D and demonstration facilities.

Facilities

Similar to conventional scale-up processes, the development of the microwave process involves the following stages:
1.Lab-scale (a few grams) development
2.Bench/pilot-scale (a few kilograms or more) demonstration
3.Pilot-scale (tens of kilograms or more) demonstration
We gradually increase the processing capacity at each stage. Here, we will introduce the facilities for the lab, bench, and pilot scales.

02 Bench-scale

After establishing the reaction system through lab-scale verification, the process is further validated at the bench-scale (several kilograms). This stage involves addressing challenges during scale-up and acquiring engineering data. It allows for calculations of product yields and rough estimation of energy consumption.

03 Pilot-scale

After establishing the reaction system and operating conditions through bench-scale verification, the process is further validated at the pilot-scale. This stage involves optimizing operating conditions and is typically conducted at approximately 1/5 to 1/20 scale of the actual equipment. Successful validation at the pilot-scale leads to the final design of the full-scale equipment.
